Welcome to the first school day of "Movember"... (for you people who recognize the efforts made by men to bring attention to the health issues of men).

Muffin Monday - the first Monday of the month!  Many thanks to Mrs. Secord who brought in mini pumpkin loaves for all the kids.  And boy, were they a slice of heaven!  (idiom:) see below

Idioms were introduced today; I read a book entitled All Clouds Have a Silver Lining, identifying and discussing the origins of the idioms. Students were assigned a few worksheets for practice. They will be given the poster to do tomorrow.

Math - We did a quick practice sheet rounding decimals to whole numbers; most students did this quickly and correctly.
We practiced saying the decimals (Eg. 2.34 = two and thirty-four hundredths) as we marked our sheets.  Following that we added notes about decimals in our Interactive Notebooks.
Decimals: place values, in words, expanded form
Students were asked to do this for the circled questions on their math sheet, including the following: 1, 2, 5, 6, 8, 12, 14, 20.

Social Studies - Government Quiz #1 was returned today; please sign and return, indicating that you have seen your child's quiz results.  Your child gets a bonus mark for signed quizzes.
Rewrites will be done Wednesday, as needed.

After music, I decided to have the students finish their birch trees so that we could focus our attention on the Art Cards (due Friday).  We will be busy this week.
