It might not look like we did much, but boy we sure were busy:)
First thing this morning, the kids completed peer assessments on their group members for their "Life Cycle of Stuff" presentations from yesterday. It will be interesting to see how their opinions about how their group members worked as a group compare to my observations.
Next, we went into the Library to hear about the 4th Annual Battle of the Books to take place at CPE in the spring. Mrs. Tomm introduced the list of ten books for the grade fives to read if interested in participating in the Battle. The students then went into the computer lab to watch trailers for the books, and to choose their top two favourites.
For the remainder of the time, students worked on their Famous Canadian Power Point projects.
After recess, we worked on our penguins before going to P.E. for mini-basketball games.
After Lunch, we did some math (factoring), library book exchange, and Mathletics if time permitted.
*Factoring included finding the factors of various numbers: Eg. 24: 1 x 24, 2 x 12, 3 x 8, 4 x 6
and factoring numbers down to their prime numbers: Eg. 2 x 2 x 2 x 3 = 24
We will continue working on these for some time, while students learn how to determine the factors of numbers using their prime factors.
