Happy belated Mothers' Day!  It sure was a beautiful weekend!

Here's our day:

After Music class with Mr. Redding, we continued learning about the St. Lawrence Lowlands.  First, we reviewed our highlighted parts, then read about the St. Lawrence Seaway.  Next, we watched the following videos:

Time lapsed video going through the locks:

St. Lawrence Seaway - Upper & Lower Beauharnois Locks - Time Lapse [1:13]

An old history 16mm film (very informative) about the building of the canal:

The Story of the St. Lawrence Seaway [12:29] This is the story of the St. Lawrence Seaway which opened to navigation in 1959. Construction of the 189-mile (306-kilometer) stretch of the Seaway between Montreal and Lake Ontario is recognized as one of the most challenging engineering feats in

history. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AKupuyjX9IQ

After recess, Mr. Redding took the kids again to talk about what musical instruments they might be interested in next year. This will be exciting for them!

Upon their return, students did a math multiplication drill and recorded their results on their double bar graph.  Some students actually beat their personal record today which is especially amazing because we haven't done them for a while.

In math, we also reviewed the different ways to set up division equations / problems and marked / reviewed last week's practice package.  **We will have a mini-quiz on these basic concepts tomorrow before moving on.  The students said that they were ready for it. **

Then, Mr. Smith took the kids outside for some P.E.

After lunch, students filled in their Agendas while I continued to read REFUGEE.  Then we went outside and worked on our "ugly sticks" - screwing on the boots and tin cans, and adding rattling bottle caps.  Sounds interesting, doesn't it?  (No photos, sorry!  I was busy supervising the drills.)

SPIRIT DAY FRIDAY!  Dress as a twin, triplet, quadruplet....
