Good day, folks.  Here's our day:

Mr. Redding took the kids for Music where they continued to practice songs for our year-end
celebration on June 25th.

Upon their return to the class, we learned about conjunctions and used the acronym FANBOYS to remember the main seven conjunctions.  Ask your child if he/she can remember what each letter stands for.  [Hint: for, and, nor, but, or, yet, so]   for and yet were challenging for the kids to put into sentences because they don't use these very often.

Here are examples for those two in particular:

The entire class was very excited, for they were going on a field trip the next day.

Sally loves the Edmonton Oilers, yet she loves the Vancouver Canucks more!

*Neither and nor are used in the same sentence, as are either and or.

Students were to write a sentence for each; I collected their examples to have a look at them.

In P.E., students practiced their track and field events.

This afternoon, we learned about Drumheller and the Badlands in Alberta.  This information will be included in the open-book quiz on Wednesday.  *We also viewed a video about the Royal Tyrrell Museum in Drumheller.

We ended our day researching and being orally tested on various human body systems.  As I have said before, the kids are really enjoying this type of independent research project.

Tomorrow is our field trip to Williamson's Lake.  If you have not signed your child's waiver, it must be signed and returned tomorrow morning.  Permission cannot be given over the phone for this outing.  Dress in layers and be prepared for a little rain.  It is supposed to be cloudy and cooler tomorrow than it has been.
