Today was the final session of P.A.U.S.E. for Mental Health with Nikki Lussier. After sharing the story,
The Invisible String, we broke into groups to explore the senses with Mindful Eating (of a craisin), Experiencing the Outdoors, First Nations ways of calming and reducing stress / opening up the spirit, and consideration of who one would go to for support and encouragement under varying circumstances. While the grade fives were participating in this program, the grade fours worked with Mrs. Campbell exploring Simple Machines. They had a great time together and accomplished a lot in their small cooperative group.
We spent a little bit of time working out division problems in small groups, working on the final details of geographical region projects, and making posters and Thank You cards for the PAUSE program in the afternoon.
After school, I went off to an Inquiry project presentation to see how the video that some of the kids filmed last Friday turned out. They helped me put together some skits about the social skills that we have been learning this year. The other teachers and staff really liked it!
