Today we learned about the Komagata Maru Incident that took place off BC's coast in 1914. Ask your child about it. We learned some new vocabulary, read the article together, then this little booklet was assigned. It is due tomorrow so please check with your child. It would be a great opportunity to discuss the incident together.
Next, the kids went off to Music with Mr. Redding. We are getting very close to last rehearsal before Monday night! *Don't forget to RSVP.
After recess, we started math diagnostics. We will continue these tomorrow if not finished today.
In science after lunch time, we started to learn about the process of mining ore. We are reading "I am a Mining Engineer", stopping for discussion and interactions. Today, we reviewed simple machines in compound machines as we considered various machinery used for mining.
Then we did some more art --- working on our birds (sneak peek below) and finishing (almost everyone has) the woven cells.
At some point, Mr.Redding took the grade fives to talk about band instruments for next year.
And that's it for our day! Enjoy your evening.
*Reminder: Please let Mrs. Echlin in the office know if your child will not be attending school next week so that we can complete the attendance records. Thanks.
