Good afternoon!  Here's what our day looked like today:

We started our morning opening doors on our Advent calendar and reading The Christmas Birthday Story by Canadian author Margaret Laurence.  We began a discussion about perspective; from whose perspective a story is told.  Kaia reminded us that A Bear At War , which we read in November, was told by the teddy bear's perspective.  Today's story was written in the third person so nobody in particular was telling the story.

During Library, students finished up their pages for our class non-fiction book creation.

After recess and P.E., we played Representing Numbers SCOOT in Math.  Students went from table to table (task card to task card) answering questions related to representing numbers different ways.  We checked over our answers together as a class.

After lunch, "Plangendas" and Silent Reading, we talked about living in Revelstoke: what we do outdoors, about the geography (mountains, river), national parks and the dam, to name a few things.  The students started writing their letters to students at an elementary school in Campbell River. We will continue these tomorrow, focusing on organizing our thoughts when writing.
