The permission forms went home today for our upcoming field trip. Please sign these and return them by Friday! If for whatever reason your child will not be attending the field trip, please phone Ariel McDowell (837-4744) to let her know personally. Some of you have written notes in Agendas... thank you, but please phone Ariel as well. Many thanks.
Our day:
"Do unto otters as you would have otters do unto you." - We continued building our class commitment to follow the RAISE, using the book Do Unto Otters - A Book About Manners, for reminders. Students signed our class commitment, which will be referred to should the need arise any time throughout the year.
After P.E., and an exciting game of Bench Ball, students wrote in their Journals. They were to write about any number of things: How the year is going so far. What they would like to see happen. Are they looking forward to the trip? What apprehensions might they have? If they aren't going on the trip, what will they be doing instead? The point is to get students feeling comfortable about writing and learning to express themselves clearly. I look forward to reading them all.
We read more from Girl #85: A Doukhobor Childhood and continued to discuss history, culture, beliefs, government, and more. Students are also learning to just listen to the story, and to hopefully develop pictures in their head; ask questions; make connections.
Math - Students were given a package today about Representing Numbers; they are to complete pages 30, 31, and 32 for tomorrow for marking / review. We also played some math games.
We didn't get to French today, although it is written in their Agenda. Some days are just like that:)
