Math - Fractions and Decimals cont. pp 19-21. For the past couple of weeks we have been converting fractions to decimals by first making sure that the fraction had a denominator of 10, 100, or 1000. This new worksheet has students using a calculator to divide the numerator by the denominator (to also show the same decimal).
Students are also showing hundredths using base-ten models.
*All three pages were assigned for homework.
Similes - Students watched a Similes and Metaphors video (linked on my blog) before completing some worksheets identifying and writing similes. Check it out!
Social Studies - We first watched a couple of short videos (also linked on my blog): How Canada Became a Democracy (Parts One and Two) before reading through and highlighting keys points in The House of Commons. The next two pages were assigned for homework; we will do the last sheet tomorrow (about the Speaker's Mace) in the computer lab.
*There will be a government Quiz on Thursday on what we have been learning so far. It will have multiple choice questions, as well as some fill in the blank; a vocabulary box will be provided.
