Well, I don't know what happened to yesterday's post.  I am still hoping it will reveal itself so I can publish it:)

Today, we started off by choosing a famous Canadian about whom students will create a Power Point presentation.  Each student chose from a list; the idea being to learn how to pick out important information from a reading (not researching to find the information), to take notes in simple terms (not complete sentences), and to learn how to create a Power Point presentation.  This will be done during our Library class with Mrs. Tomm, so that there will be two of us to help the students.

After recess, we reviewed our notes about the Canadian government for our social studies quiz tomorrow.  It was supposed to happen today, but I felt that the students really needed to be led through the 'study' process.  The students were made aware of the four sections on the quiz, the format of each section, and the pages in their duotang on which to focus.  There should be no surprises tomorrow.

This afternoon, we watched the video "An American Tail", then had a few minutes to discuss the story in relation to the Immigration Project that the students are working on.
A secret someone gave us some popcorn to enjoy while we were watching the movie; we had hoped that it would have been a last activity with Oliver but that was not to be.

Tomorrow afternoon is our school's Halloween costume parade and dance.  Students can go home for lunch to get dressed up or bring their costumes and make up to school.

Get a good night's sleep, everyone!
