It was great meeting all the parents and grandparents who were able to attend the parent-teacher interviews today! I look forward to meeting with more of you tomorrow, and in the days to come.
Early dismissal tomorrow again.
Social studies was a big focus again today as we draw near to our voting day, tomorrow! Today, we reviewed some of the rights that we enjoy as Canadians, and considered our responsibility to maintain those rights. Students also did a comparison of three issues (the environment and two of their own choices) across the political platforms of the four major parties. (assignment)
Ms. Noel came into our class today and did a lesson about Buddy Coaching: how to be good Big Buddies by knowing how to help our Little Buddies read. This involves role-modelling fluency, developing word-attack skills, using context clues, and checking for comprehension. Students will be able to put this into practice on Friday during Buddy Reading.
In math today, we started fractions (1/10 and 1/100) and writing them as fractions (0.1 and 0.01); pages 16 and 17 were assigned. We will continue to work through the booklet, and to discuss associated vocabulary.
*We also marked page 70 from last Friday: Estimating Sums and Differences cont. Sometimes reading through written problems several times to understand what is being asked is necessary; perseverance is an important life skill. Please encourage your child to persevere!
Picture Day tomorrow!
Subway lunch Friday.
