Metaphors revisited; we reviewed what metaphors are.  Next we went over the criteria for the Metaphor poster (by looking at the self-assessment in the back of their Figurative Language Duotang).

Girl #85 - I managed to read some of our Doukhobor story today, finally!  The kids are really enjoying this story... ask them about it.

French - Today we revisited a basic conversation.  Students were to re-organize a jumbled conversation by either cutting and pasting, or by re-writing it.

D.A.R.E. - Cst. Sharp came in today to start the Grade Fives with the DARE program.  This will consist of ten lessons, with a 'graduation ceremony' at the end. Today's Lesson #1 introduced the DARE program, and the DARE Decision Making Model.

Math - Today we marked / reviewed converting fractions to decimals, and rounding decimals to tenths and hundredths.

Examples: 2/5 = 4/10 = 0.4                        15/25 = 60/100 = 0.60
0.74 rounds down to 0.7                             1.487 rounds up to 1.49

A reminder that students must finish their homework and have it at school if they are to get anything out of the marking / review that we do together.  Students are being encouraged to be active participants in their learning.
