Another busy day:
We started off with Math again: timed subtraction drill and graphed the result. The kids really are getting faster, and feeling more confident in their progress. Feel free to do these at home!
I read the book: Adding Fractions then we added some with unlike denominators on the board together. We will continue this tomorrow. This can be challenging in that it involves some multiplication and division!
Onomatopoeia activity - The students moved around the room, writing on each piece of paper that contained one of six onomatopoeias: hum, rattle, bang, pop, thump, and crunch. They had to write down things that might make that sound. Example: hum = refrigerator, a person singing...
pop = bubble gum, a balloon, a toy gun...
Students were then given some time to work on their onomatopoeia poster; it is now due!
Socials - We watched the Who Does What? video again, then the students worked with a partner to sort a list of responsibilities into the level of government that looks after them. Federal, Provincial/Territorial, Municipal, or Shared. We will finish this tomorrow.
This afternoon we tried some print making using styrofoam trays. Some worked out very well, others not so much. We'll try again.
