Rehearsal - run through first thing, so we filled in our time getting caught up with personification assignments, math worksheets, and missing assignments.
At 9:30 we started reading Westcoast Reader, then were called to the gym for our turn.
We continued this upon our return to the classroom, and after recess.
*I extended recess an extra 15 minutes because we missed gym again due to the concert.

While completing the Westcoast Reader worksheets, students added some French vocabulary (Christmas items and the days of the week).

After lunch , we watched a documentary called Stand4GreatBear about a fellow who paddled a paddle board along the route that super tankers would take if oil pipelines were build from Alberta to BC's Kitimat area.  His mission was to bring attention to the fragile ecosystem of BC's coast, and the traditional foods of First Nations.  He talked about the spill in the Gulf of Mexico, the Exxon Valdez, and the BC Ferry (Queeen of the North) that capsized several years ago now.

*Students were to write in their journal about the video: any thoughts / feelings that they had while / after watching the video.  You can check out this 35 minute video on Youtube.

After journals, students filled in their agendas and the did some sewing until the end of the day.
