Happy Friday!
This morning, students interviewed their Little Buddies, collecting information about them. They will be using some of this information to write stories:)
Fast forward to math... We continued marking L10 (Equivalent Fractions and Ordering Fractions)
pp 48-9. *Several students had not completed their homework! This means that they are not prepared for marking and review, and don't know what they don't understand (so can't ask appropriate questions for clarification). Please ensure that your child is completing his/her homework when assigned. I assign very little; it is usually work that is not completed during the allotted class time.
I did assign a written response sheet which is due Monday. It is called Understanding Prime and Composite Numbers.
The second math sheet is a colouring sheet that involves reducing fractions to their simplest terms. We are also learning the colours in French. This will be due Tuesday or Wednesday.
Debates - We spent a lot of time preparing for the Energies Debates which will take place Tuesday during the Beyond Recycling program. *We also learned about debates in general (vocabulary and how their process). The link to the video we watched is on this blog.
French - We did a quick practice again today; there will be a quiz later next week!
There will also be a math quiz next week about equivalent fractions.
OTHER REMINDERS:
COINS FOR SYRIA - Change is being collected to help raise funds for the Syrian family coming to Revelstoke.
BOOK DRIVE - Bring in any books you may have laying around... there will be a book exchange on January 27th, Literacy Day! Dress as your favourite comic book character.
The hyperbole posters are now two weeks overdue. Please look at the Assignment Check to see if your child has submitted his/her poster. *Halle, Sydnie, Hope, Justin, and Devyn have since handed in their Boreal Forest Animal (not marked on checklist-sorry.
