Happy Leap Year!
Ask your child why we have leap years!!

I am a Mining Engineer - We started reading this booklet together, discussing vocabulary and 'making sense of it' as we went.

Description: This is a story that focuses on the work of mining engineers at different stages in mine development, from the feasibility study to engineering and construction, to operations and reclamation.  -Preface

This ties in well with our social studies look at Canada's natural resources, and our science unit about simple machines.

Language Arts - In our Interactive Notebooks, we took a look at the Hard & Fast Rules of Capitalization.  Students have a worksheet that needs to be completed for tomorrow.

P.E. - We started volleyball today, practicing the hand positions for volleying and bumping (overhand and underhand passes).

In Math, we started a mini-unit about Double Bar Graphs.  Students have been doing single bar graphs and a line graph when recording their multiplication practice.  Students are to create a double bar graph using food likes of the boys and girls in our class.  This is due tomorrow; most students finished during class time.

*We didn't get to our French booklets (Qu'est-ce que tu as?) today.  They are to be done and at school tomorrow, however.

Science - We ended our day finishing the EdHeads simple machines assignment, and started the compound machines assignment.  Both are to be submitted by Friday!  Also, the Simple Machines package is also due now.

And that was our day!
