Welcome back after the four-day weekend!
Friday was very productive, meeting with all the teachers from the district to discuss the re-structured curriculum. Yesterday (Monday) was, of course, B.C.'s Family Day - hope you did something fun!
We started off our day today getting up and moving around in a multiplication game called Scoot! You can ask your child about this.
Next, we watched a video (Math Antics - Multiplying Factors) which explained the concept of and the how to of multiplying fractions. The kids caught on very quickly; the package is due tomorrow.
Their Working with Improper Fractions and Mixed Numbers Quiz was returned today. Remember to sign it for a bonus point.
Science - We had one presentation today: Solar Energy. Levi and Justin presented their Interactive Poster. Students had a chance to write down pros and cons of this energy source. Tomorrow, several other students want to present their posters. (This wasn't a requirement but because they want to, I'm going with it.) By Friday, students will have a chance to learn about and complete the pros and cons for each of the energy resources, as well as Understanding the Greenhouse Effect. I will be collecting their recording sheets on this day.
The D.A.R.E. essays were due today, as I need to mark them and decide on three to be read out at the D.A.R.E. grad ceremony.
Reminder:
D.A.R.E. graduation ceremony is this Thursday, February 11th @ 6:30 in our gym!
Three notices went home today:
-P.A.C. Carnival (Feb. 26th)
-Cake walk notice
-C.P.E. Newsletter
