We started in Math by adding notes about division to our Interactive Notebooks. [see photo]
Next, students worked on some practice questions; this package is due tomorrow. Many students finished it during the allotted time. We are starting slowly to reinforce the multi steps of long division, so that when things get more complicated, the steps will be ingrained. (Later, we will look at simplifying division methods.)
*The videos on Math Antics are very helpful and can be viewed more than once to reinforce the concepts. See the link on this blog.
We did the school wide run at about 9:40. Many students beat their times from last Thursday.
After recess, we held our Real Food Potluck, the Beyond Recycling event with Mrs. Vickers. What an assortment of local foods! Ryan caught a fish yesterday, some hunters brought venison jerky, sausage, and pepperoni, gardeners brought stewed rhubarb, fresh asparagus, carrots and cucumber, dried plums, frozen berries and canned pears from last year; we had fruit crumbles and homemade cookies. It was quite a feast. Thank you to everyone who were able to bring in something to share, and thank you to the parents who helped make it happen. [See pictures below.]
After lunch, intermediate students participated in various Mindful May events. I, again, hosted drawing and colouring while listening to relaxing music.
French was the last subject of our day. We first made booklets, then wrote about our likes and dislikes of the sports we are learning. For example: J'aime le soccer. Je n'aime pas la gymnastique. J'adore le baseball! These booklets are to be ready for presenting on Thursday.
