We started off this morning visiting the bee installation in Ms. Pattison's room. We had an amazing presentation about the honey bees that are busy living their lives under the scrutiny of all of us. Ask your child about this wonderful opportunity in our school!
After that, we marked the math problems from yesterday. Then the students had 24 problem cards to solve; these were spread out around the room and spilled into the hallway. All of the problems are about area and perimeter. The students are really catching on well, and are ready for a little quiz on Thursday. This took us to recess.
After recess, we walked to the Community Garden beside the Visual Arts Centre. Again, we had an amazing presentation about various aspects of the gardens. Students were divided into three groups and assigned jobs. Some removed the dried leaves from the gardens and put them onto the compost, others pulled weeds, or planted some strawberry plants. We stopped at the Wooden Head Park on the way home for a bite of lunch before heading back to the school.
We arrived at school at the end of lunch, just in time for 'Mindful Monday'. Students were divided into their house teams to do a variety of mindful activities: zentangles/ colouring; nature walk; intense workout; and a fourth that I can't remember right now:( Sorry.
To end our day, we added notes about adverbs into our Interactive Notebooks.
Reminders: Swimming tomorrow! and "May the fourth be with you!" -dress as a Star Wars character
