What a perfect day for our field trip! We had a fabulous time at the BC Interior Forestry Museum, then a Forest Walk with Bill at Mt. Revelstoke National Park with a focus on succession. Following that we went to the Downie Saw Mill for a tour. All parts of the day were very educational and fun. The students were especially well behaved during the mill tour. Well done!
*My camera died so I will have to put up some photos once I am home and my camera's battery is rejuvenated. I will post them separately so that you will be able to find them easily.
Before our field trip, we did another Social Thinking lesson. Today, I read Superflex Takes on Rock Brain, written by Stephanie Madrigal and illustrated by Kelly Knopp. We discussed Superflex (from super flexible thinking): what it is, and what the Unthinkables are, specifically Rock Brain. We will continue this focus tomorrow.
Speaking of tomorrow, there is a special event tomorrow! Dr. Brown is coming into the class to talk with the kids about the various body systems they have been learning about. She will be demonstrating how lungs work (pig's lungs) and the effects of smoking on lungs. This is a wonderful opportunity for the kids, and I really appreciate Dr. Brown taking time from her busy schedule to talk with us.
Enjoy your evening!
