Wednesday March 1, 2017

Welcome on this first day of March!  And what a busy day it was.

We started our morning setting up the gym for the Spelling Bee.  My class was fantastic, doing all the set up with minimal instruction.  It allowed me to focus on getting the recording sheets etc. organized for the judges.  My class also tidied up the gym following the spelling bee!  Thank you so much, my wonderful students:)

Around 9:00, classes gathered in the gym for the 5th Annual CPE Spelling Bee.  We had 10 contestants, from grades 3, 4, and 5; some photos are posted here.  I will post a photo of the four finalists tomorrow. Congratulations to all the contestants, but especially to the finishers (in order from first to fourth): Bence, Aiden, Autumn, and Jacob.

After recess, we were back in the gym for P.E.  Mrs. Klassen's class joined us for soccer skittles, as we had highjacked their PE time for the spelling bee.

Then back to the classroom for Social Studies.  We watched two videos about the Norse people and the discovery of their settlement in Newfoundland - L'anse aux Meadows.  We labeled some more locations on the maps on our lap books, and pasted in a Viking ship.  More notes will be added next day.

After lunch, we did some math: multiplication drill and some area & perimeter word problems.  We finished off our day with some French review of numbers to 30 and the date.

Enjoy your evening.
