Good day, Folks!

We had a very busy / productive day today.  Here's what we did:

After Mr. Redding took them to Music class first thing, we did another Greek and Latin Roots package (Unit 4).  We filled in the cards together as a class; the package was assigned for homework if not completed during the class time given.

After recess, for math, we started with a 2-minute multiplication drill.  Then we set up line graphs to track our results for the past 4-5 drills since November 23.  Students will continue documenting their results on their line graphs.  *We reviewed the key elements of graphs: Title, labels for both x and y axes, scale, date taken.  Unlike the bar graph, dots are recorded on each line (spaces are not skipped).  These aspects of graphs should become second nature by the end of the year!

Next, we marked / reviewed the prime vs composite numbers and their factor pairs from last day.  Students were also to draw arrays for each factor pair.  Two new numbers were assigned for tomorrow: 24 and 18.

During P.E., half the class played basketball, the others Capture the Flag on "hoppies".

After lunch and Agendas, we discussed the letter that I sent home re: Christmas giving.  I have attached a copy to the right.

The students were also given a study sheet to help them prepare for their science "Matter" quiz tomorrow.  A copy of this is also posted below.

Finally, we ended our day learning about Christmas in Australia.  This is the first of several countries in a series that we will be learning about.  This unit includes reading, writing answers to questions clearly and in full sentences, and reviewing some mapping skills. We hope to do a country a day between now and Christmas break (Dec. 22).

REMINDER: Our Christmas Concert is on Tuesday, December 19th so be sure to set it aside.  Mr. Redding and Mrs. Strange are working very hard on this fabulous show!
