Happy Mindful Monday.  My apologies for my spotty blog entries, partly due to my absences.  Others, just plain forgetful.  Here's today:

February being Black History Month, we started to learn about Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.  Today, we listened to a song and read its lyrics.  Students are to finish the "filling in the blanks" assignment related to this song.

Tomorrow, we will continue to learn more about him, listen to part of his speech, and learn about Washington's National Mall to give the students a better perspective about the time (1963) and situation regarding Negroes' rights.

**If you haven't seen Hidden Figures on Netflix, it's well worth the watch!  There is a little bit of swearing in it, though, so a heads up.**

We also reviewed / marked the Area Model package  that had been assigned for homework.  Only two people had completed it however, so it has been re-assigned for tomorrow.  I know that people are busy but more effort needs to be made to complete homework assignments. Please support your child's efforts to follow through.
Eight single-digit multiplication word problems were also assigned for tomorrow; several students completed these during the allotted class time.

This afternoon, we spent a great deal of time in the computer lab typing up our "Famous Canadians".
Students are creating four speech bubbles in which they type famous quotes or important information about their Famous Canadian.  They also write a condensed biography about their person.  These will be put together, along with a mini figure, in a pop-out presentation.  Lastly, the students will be presenting their person to the class next Monday afternoon.
