Dear Parents / Guardians,

Next week (March 13-17), I will be hosting individual parent-teacher meetings.  I am planning twenty-minute sessions (from 3:00 – 5:30) to give us time to discuss your child’s progress.  I will, at that time, have a Written Progress Profile and samples of your child’s work to give you.

Please contact Mrs. Echlin in the office at 250-837-4744 to secure a time that works for you.
Thank you, in advance, for making the time in your busy schedules to meet with me.  I look forward to seeing everyone throughout the week.

Students worked on the Unit 6 Greek & Latin Roots package (we haven't done one for a while) independently; tomorrow we will complete the study cards.  The crossword on the back page didn't photocopy well so students are just to write the vocabulary word beside each answer, not try to make it into a crossword.

We did not get to the Inferencing (Olympic info cards) assignment today so you can ignore this in your child's Agenda.

We watched a MathAntics video today about Decimal Place Values.  Rob explains things beautifully; a review of the main video is linked to this blog [see MathAntics on the side].  We also watched a step-by-step tutorial and completed our own worksheet.  Students worked on their package which is due tomorrow.

In PE, we practiced volleyball skills again.  Not terribly exciting for the kids, perhaps, but games aren't much fun if you can't hit the ball correctly and get it over the net a couple of times.

After lunch, we watched a video about the construction of Confederation Bridge, then read through our one-page write up, highlighting key points.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FkJ4W9zwZmI

To end the day, students worked on their Holes opinion essay assignments.  Almost everyone started to type up their rough copies; we will edit these so that we have a "running record" of our editing skills / progress. **Students who were away last Thursday when we watched Holes will need to watch it on Youtube at home.

Throughout the day, I was able to take several students aside for reading assessments.
