Here's our day:
We learned more about the Canadian Shield today by watching a slideshow (see link on previous post).
Then we read about Ottawa, its origin and Aboriginal meaning of its name. We watched a short video about Ottawa, too (see link as above).
The students had some time to finish the short activity for this part of the package.
After recess, Carver showed us his drum! He finished painting the eagle on it, as well as the medicine wheel colours, and it looks great! Well done!
In math we did drills and graphed the results. We also used calculators to change 25/100 to 0.25 and more. After some practice, we discussed the relationship to percents.
Agenda and a trip to the computer lab to type up Holes essays was next. Some students still have not finished this. If you have a computer at home, I recommend that you have your child bring home his/her rough copy to type up.
In the afternoon, we had some time for silent reading and also drew bunnies. Some students used chalk pastels as was demonstrated and encouraged; others used pencil crayon. Here are our results:
CONCERT TOMORROW @ 1:30 IN THE GYM!! HOPE YOU CAN MAKE IT.
U6 Grk & Latin quiz tomorrow.
