Wednesday & Thursday, March 14 & 15, 2018

Hi folks.  I got really busy with parent-teacher interviews yesterday so didn't post anything, hence two days in one.  I'll be brief.

Yesterday, in social studies, we read about Nunavut and watched a couple of great videos.  They are linked on a previous post (check the title).

Then students wrote the Greek & Latin Roots Unit 6 quiz.  The focus was vocabulary: matching roots with meanings, and filling vocabulary into sentences.   There was not a spelling quiz this time.

The kids are loving the math these days.  After drills and graphing, we are learning about decimal place values and converting into fractions (and percents).  We did not get to the Comparing decimals today because I forgot after PE so we went straight to the computer lab.  You can imagine how disappointed the kids were.

In the afternoon yesterday, the students performed on their recorders in a concert.  The band students also played a few songs, then treats were served!  Sorry about sending them home all sugared up.

Today, we learned about oil through "The Story of Oil".  The students worked really well and were able to get everything done (and submitted even!) before recess.

The Puberty Talk took place between recess and lunch, and went really well.  Ask your child to see his/her package, talk about it, ask questions....  The videos (all "watchwellcast") are noted on the front of the package and are linked here.

The kids also completed a survey after the session as a check in to see how they are feeling about things.
