What a surprise this morning!
I introduced our spelling words for this week (It's a new to us program), reviewing their meanings, and considering the focus of the lesson. [See photo] The students had little time to work on this so we'll continue it tomorrow, as well as do a variety of activities to reinforce the words. Remember, you can click on the photo to enlarge it!
Also before PE and recess, students chose their new seats for the week. The desks are arranged in a variety of combinations; students are to choose wisely as to where and with whom they sit. So far, so good today!
After recess and a quick drill involving 'adding 9 to random numbers', students learned about digital roots. The students were shown how to check their addition of two-digit numbers by determining the digital roots of their sum, and adding up the digital roots of each number in the problem. Ask your child to explain the following example below.
After lunch, students completed their self-reflection for the Remembrance Day art trio piece that they had worked on so diligently.
We didn't get to the Six Cedars today, or the wolf reflection piece.
We did take time to clean out our Working Binders and white bins, though, which will make all of our lives calmer and more settled.
Somewhere in there, we also added the final notes to our Science notebooks so we're all caught up there!
REMINDERS:
