Hi folks. Here's a late look at our Wednesday:
Our school's focus this week is the "A" of Arrow Heights Elementary C.A.R.E.S.
A stands for Achievement: doing one's best work
This Mother Goose quote is perfect for reinforcing this! [see below in red]
Students continued to work on their Unit 1 Spelling package, focusing on syllables and consonant blends.
In Library with Ms. Draboczi today, the kids learned about various aspects of non-fiction books, including Table of Contents, labeled diagrams, pictures and captions, graphs, charts, and much more. Then they did a short activity to identify these features.
After recess and one quick math drill, we got set up for our calendar photo. The kids depicted real gardeners for our book: Compost Stew. They looked great, with gummy worms hanging from their lips! You'll have to buy a calendar (when they come out) to see for yourselves. *The funds raised from the calendar sales goes to purchasing more books for the library.
In the afternoon, we read the first part of The Six Cedar Trees, stopping to focus on Wolf: the Communicator. The students then reflected on how they might relate to the qualities of Wolf.
*The teachings from the Six Cedar Trees are connected to the province's focus Core Competencies: Communication, Thinking, Personal and Social Responsibility.
