As always, we have several things on the go. We have been practicing for the Christmas concert reading COVID Christmas that Anastatia found online for us. We may also be playing some hand bells for you and singing a song.... here's hoping we can get it all together for you.
Our reading these last two days were about the Ring of Fire. [See below]
We read together, highlight key points, discuss new vocabulary, and answer questions. Ask your child about it: where it is and what natural events occur along it. Today we also watched half of a video about Hawaii and it's active volcanoes.
The latest finished Grinch.
In math, we are continuing to become familiar with place values. We play a game with digits and place value pockets to help us make different kinds of numbers. Students have also been practicing Representing Numbers 5 Different Ways. They have a cheat-sheet for spelling awkward numbers.
It was a beautiful afternoon so we were able to get outside for our break.
Several students finished up some odds and ends, including past art projects. We also started a new piece today, using oil pastels for the first time this year. Check out the first ones finished: Catching Snowflakes. Actually, Cassius decided to have his child catching gingerbread:)
