Happy "Junior Friday"! I heard this term this morning on the radio:)
We had three students attending today; we accomplished a lot again. Students worked to finish up any assignments from the last two weeks, while I took students one at a time to do some reading fluency.
Then I finished reading Island of the Blue Dolphins and discussed it some more before the kids wrote a journal entry about their thoughts about the story. They also had to include three reasons to support their 'thought' - mostly whether they enjoyed the story or not.
During math, we had a student join us to complete the Telling Time package. Please practice telling time on an analogue clock with your child, and asking was time means on a digital clock. Example: What does 03:45 mean? It means it's 15 minutes before 4 o'clock or a quarter to 4.
This afternoon, we had time to watch My Octopus Teacher. A "devil fish" was mentioned in Island of the Blue Dolphins which we soon figured out to be an octopus.
Students also did the recycling, including compost gathering.
We ended our day playing a Memory game depicting images of sea life mentioned in the story we finished reading.
