Fabulous Friday, February 5, 2021

Gilakas'la! Besides today being Fabulous Friday, it's Ethan's birthday.  We had already planned to share our lunch meal, so our birthday boy is lucky!

Here's a picture of the bannock rising, and another of the birthday boy holding the meat before the chilli is started:

We started our morning watching a lovely moon rise in NE Australia.  Take three minutes to relax and enjoy this special video.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GHCGcM_HGAw

Because February is Black History Month, we learned a little about Mae Jemison, an astronaut, while reading a book about her on Epic! Books.  This led us to watching a video of Sunny Williams giving a tour of the International Space Station.  This was very interesting and the kids enjoyed it.   http://www.youtube.com/embed/doN4t5NKW-k      Students then had an opportunity to read books of their choice from the Black History section on Epic! Books.
Anastasia took students throughout the morning to prepare the bannock and do some food preparation for the Indian Tacos.  She took pictures of the kids while I was in the classroom; I'll post some when I get them.  Doesn't this look delicious?

When not doing food prep, students did their math on IXL today.  Their focus was on the Time unit at their grade level, then they could do some multiplication practice.  They loved this, of course!

In the afternoon, I took the students to the beach.  It was a beautiful day and we really needed to get some fresh air and exercise.  They found all kinds of creatures.  [See photos below]

Three more students finished their colour wheel umbrella art this  morning (see bulletin board picture) and we started to design Valentines cards.  I am urging students to not use store-bought Valentines and to not bring any candy next week for Valentines Day celebration.  Thank you for your support with this.
