Another Marvelous Monday!
Here is our weekly idiom:

We started off doing a MAZE exercise this morning, but many students were sleepy so we'll likely move this weekly activity to Tuesdays and Thursdays. It is a 3-minute activity where students read a passage independently and have to choose the correct word (from three choices) that fits into the sentence. The entire passage is like this; students are to see how much they can read while making the correct word choices. The intent of this is to strengthen accuracy with fluency.
Students were introduced to Allusion today! We watched a PowerPoint presentation I made up, and two videos. We had great discussions about allusions and their use, especially in films. You can watch the videos here:

In the afternoon, we reviewed our notes for the Nervous System, specifically the brain and neurons that we have been studying. The pocket chart shows the vocabulary; it's colour-coded, more or less, to show the relationships of the parts or groupings for studying. I also made up a couple of Tic Tac Toe games for the students to play while testing their knowledge. Lastly, we re-watched the video that we had watched when we first began this unit. There will be a quiz tomorrow based on the students' notes, labeled models, and vocabulary on the pocket chart.
