Gilakas'la!
Lyam joined us today and will be in our classroom throughout the week. He is doing some observation in our class, jumping in to work with and interact with the kids as needed. He sang a song for us, and also led some basketball skill development during P.E.
In Language Arts, we did a MAZE practice, and read a little story about the spelling rule: I before E. Remember the rhyme: "I before E except after C or in the sound "ay" as in neighbour and weigh". We also set up our Interactive Notebook for Language Arts, starting with Literary Devices. Students had to identify which definition is which, and add it to the appropriate section. This is in preparation of the Quiz (multiple choice) on Thursday!
In Math, we did multiplication drills followed by adding personal results to their line graph. Then we looked at units of measure involving time, including minutes, hours, days, weeks, months in a year, and years in a decade, century, and even millenium.
After lunch, I continued reading aloud My Side of the Mountain. Then Lyam sang a song before we headed off to P.E. to develop some basketball skills.
