What a fabulous experience the children who attended the field trip to New Denver and Castlegar had!  Throughout the year, we will continue to make connections between what we saw and our learning.  The children were very well behaved on the trip; we were complimented on several occasions.  Well done. Let's remember this and carry it on throughout the year.

Mainstreams:
We had another wonderful learning experience this morning after recess when Dave with Wildsight came to do a hands-on program called Mainstreams.  (www.mainstreams.ca)  I haven't checked out the website yet but you may want to have a look yourself.  Students learned about the importance of streams to all wildlife: their creation, how they work, what impact various activities may have on them.  Water and the environment will continue to be a focus of our studies throughout the year.

Learning Styles and Modalities:
We started to look at / consider our individual learning needs: environment (light/dark, quiet/noise); physiological (movement/sitting, food/water intake); sociological (individual/pairs/groups) et cetera.  We also started to reflect on how we learn best.  Besides learning about ourselves and our needs, I hope that the children will be more aware of the needs of others.  We need to learn how to meet our own learning needs without negatively impacting the learning needs of others.   We will be continuing this focus for several weeks, with reminders throughout the year.

Math - Comparing and Ordering Numbers:
Students were assigned pp. 36-38.  Next Wednesday, there will be a QUIZ about Place Value, Comparing and Ordering Numbers, and Rounding Numbers.

Assembly tomorrow, if you'd like to attend.

Wear your house colour tomorrow for the Matrix Stations in the afternoon:)
