We shifted our day around a bit to accommodate the grade four class's request for an earlier Library.
I read another Idioms Tale: Slam Dunk - about idioms related to sports. These are always fun and educational.
Then we looked at Onomatopoeia... and the kids worked on a two-page assignment (due tomorrow).
While they worked on their onomatopoeia poster, I continued reading Girl #85.
After recess, Shay told us a bit about Orphan Trains as his Immigration project. This led into further discussion about the experiences of immigrants. It also led to discussions about the Syrian refugees coming to Canada, and some of the fear-mongering that is taking place related to this.
I posted two interesting links from cbc.ca (Please check them out.) One is an description and proper names of religious wear. The other is the videoed conversation between a man and his son about the Paris attacks. It is lovely.
This afternoon, students worked on their Famous Canadian projects: putting information into their research booklets, and working on their Power Point projects.
