Math - After our timed multiplication drill, the students graphed their results. We discussed how their results today were lower than last week, and the possible reasons for it: weekend w/out practice; just a not-so-good day; first thing Monday morning.
*There will be an adding and subtracting fractions quiz on Wednesday.
We marked Subtracting Fractions with Like Denominators (from last Thursday).
Keep It Simple pp 149-50 was assigned.
I showed them how to compare fractions using cross-multiplication.
I also showed them how to use their multiplication table (in their Agenda) to find factors.
'Why The Fuss About Fracking' - We read this article together; p. 22 was assigned.
Figurative Language - Personification was introduced. We did two packages in class: My Nose is Running, and a package containing various samples (worksheet style). We marked the first poem and questions together; the latter was assigned for tomorrow.
