Monday, April 11, 2016

Happy Monday, everyone. Hopefully, you were able to enjoy the sunshine this weekend.

The photocopier is broken today (and into tomorrow) so we didn't do everything that I had planned.  Sadly, there is no math or language arts homework today:(

We did mark our metric conversion sheets from last week, as well as the subject - predicate worksheets.  We also watched a video on Youtube: Mr. Morton's subjects and predicates.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fdUXxdmhIsw  It is quite catchy, I found.
We will continue exploring these as we look at what constitutes proper sentences.

Swimming waivers went home today!  Please sign and return promptly.  Wednesday mornings, starting May 4th, we will be going to the pool for lessons (4 X).  Please note that the bus leaves at 8:45 so students mustn't be late these mornings.  Also please take note that this is part of our P.E. program so participation is strongly encouraged.

I returned the Mining Project assessments and Talking Leaves today.  I really enjoyed learning about some of the mines in Canada, and was most impressed with the quality of their projects and presentations.  In language arts, we are focussing on answering questions thoroughly and correctly, and at times, supporting answers with information from the articles.

Human Body Unit - Today I introduced this unit.  This is a self-paced (more or less) unit; students are expected to direct their learning (with guidance from me and other teachers involved with our class). Students were given an opportunity to discuss this new format and make improvements to the outline. I will send home a printed copy once the photocopier is healthy again.
