Once again, our day was a little different than planned as we waited for the recovery of our photocopier. It has been great, actually, having to think about ways to do things differently, trying to save paper and have the kids do more for themselves.
We started off math with a game of Scoot, this time the questions involved metric conversions. We use BenQ (the document camera) to mark them on the board.
*Please note that there will be a quiz on metric conversions on Thursday.
Scoot - hard at it |
Scoot - more pondering |
Students had some time to work a bit on their Human Body unit today. We watched The Magic School Bus Human Body today; some students took some notes during the digestive system portion.
From time to time, I will be showing a video, giving a demonstration, or otherwise discussing a related topic to all students. Many of our reading comprehension topics will also related to aspects of the human body. Tomorrow's, for example, is Three Cheers for Ears! (which is also alliteration).
We did not continue our pulp birds as is written in the agenda, but will get to those tomorrow.
We did revisit our pen pal letters, however. I wanted the students to focus on creating thoughtful paragraphs, expanding their writing about each paragraph topic, not just firing off a series of questions. I am sure that I will see great improvements when I read them. *Everyone's is due by Friday, please.
That's the gist of our day:)
