Happy Friday the 13th!
I hope you had a good one; here's ours in a somewhat abbreviated form today:
Buddy Reading (Tiffany and Hope helped some grade 2-3 students sew buttons onto the CPE button blanket)
Book exchange and silent reading - Some students worked on their art piece (Morrisseau) instead.
P.E. = high jump practice
Recess
Math - We marked the long division w/sheets from yesterday. I must say, I am very impressed with how well the students are grasping long division! I did not assign any math homework for the weekend.
Music with Mr. Rogers (my prep time)
Lunch (Thank you to the responsible students who do lunch monitoring in the K/1 and 2/3 classes!)
Our afternoon was a little different. The students were told what needed doing, and were left to decide when / in which order (more or less) they would do them. This is what we had on our plate:
-an Agenda to fill in for today
-an adverb (pink) worksheet to complete for Monday
-JUMP ROPE FOR HEART (from 1:00-2:00)
-Scholastic book orders to look at
-art work to finish up
Many of the students are very good at monitoring their behaviour and activities when the schedule is open like this. Still others are working on it:) How else will they learn?
Have a wonderful weekend, and don't get sunburnt!
REMINDERS:
JUMP ROPE FOR HEART *Money is now due so bring in on Monday if not already done so. Also, the envelopes are to be returned even if money was not raised (or a note saying that the envelope has been lost or recycled). We need to keep track of these. Thank you.
"Me to We" coin drive for children in India who are not attending school
Bake Sale on Tuesday, May 17th, for people in Fort McMurray who are affected by the fires
Book orders due Friday, please. The sooner they're in, the sooner I can submit them.
Field trip - I hope to take the kids to the Visual Arts Centre to see the RSS students' art show on Thursday, May 19th, 12:35-2:20. We will be walking and I will need at least two parent volunteers. I will send a letter home on Monday, but please keep this in mind. Thanks.
