Good evening,

We started our morning watching Knots on a Counting Rope, a book written by Bill Martin Jr., and illustrated by John Archambault, read by Bonnie Bartlett and William Daniels.  It is good for the students to listen to others reading, and a nice change for them to hear someone else's voice! Here is the link to the story.  http://www.storylineonline.net/knots-on-a-counting-rope/

Next, the kids told their own stories by tying beads onto a piece of string, each bead representing an important event or memory.  The students will be sharing their stories orally with the class.  They will also be writing down their story.  We will be doing these activities in class for the remainder of this week and into the next.

After recess, we played "hotdog" in the gym.  This was a new game for me and looked to be a lot of fun.  Ask your child how to play.

When we returned to class, the students put dividers into their Working Binders and organized their materials behind the appropriate tabs. We didn't get into the goal setting I had planned, but there's always tomorrow:)

After lunch, we did agendas, finished the math diagnostics, played a game to reinforce digital roots, and finished the names we were working on.  Almost everyone is finished so we can move on to something new.

That's it for today.  Still no homework!!
