It is the end of another short week.  Tomorrow is a Professional Development day for school district staff; I will be attending a session about brain differences.  It should be quite interesting, and more importantly, helpful.

This morning we started by marking together the Fact and Opinion activities 3 & 4; 5 & 6 were assigned.  These are short, informative paragraphs about a variety of topics; students practice identifying the facts versus opinions in the article.

After that, we learned some interesting facts about our brains.  We also started to discuss three important parts of our brains, and the roles of these parts.  (See photo)

We got to eat the dehydrated pears and apples that the kids sliced up yesterday morning.  Also, the BC government supports a BC Fruits and Vegetables program; today's was mini cucumbers.

The third photo is of the two strategies we learned during math today: Friendly Numbers for addition, and The 999 Trick for subtraction.  We didn't get to practice these much today because we were called for school photos.  There's always next week.

Lastly, this afternoon, Tina Lindegaard came in to continue print-making with the class.  I have also included some pictures below of our afternoon.

Enjoy your evening, everyone.
