Wednesday, December 14, 2016

I hope you had a wonderful Wednesday!  Here's how ours went:

We started our morning with Language Arts / Science reading, discussing, highlighting, and answer questions to the article: The Ecosystem of the Forest" from ReadWorks.  It explained what an ecosystem is, its components, and categories of producers, decomposers, and consumers.  Ask your child about the Beethoven joke I told them today!
*Students were to finish the questions on their worksheets today; we will be writing summaries tomorrow.

After recess it was gym time; we played Bench Ball so not to damage the banners still hanging in the gymnasium.

Following that we reviewed the "periods" and prefixes related to place values (whole numbers) and glued a note page into our Math Interactive Notebooks.  Next, I gave the students a "show me what you know" about writing decimal numbers in standard and expanded notation, as well as words. They were to choose to do any five of each on their worksheets.  This will help me identify any misconceptions before the holidays.

We did not manage to work on our metaphor worksheets today, or start our sewing:(

After lunch we did Agendas, reviewed the pronunciation of Noël vocabulary, and listened to most of the French presentations.  The few that weren't ready will present tomorrow.

Finally, I read more of Fatty Legs while the students coloured little pictures of alevins emerging from eggs, as this is indeed what has just happened in our aquarium!  Two eggs haven't hatched yet; there's still hope.

REMINDERS:
We vote on our gifts of hope tomorrow.
Friday is PJ Day and waffle breakfast!

THE IMMIGRATION PROJECT IS DUE UPON OUR RETURN IN THE NEW YEAR. DON'T LEAVE IT UNTIL THE LAST MOMENT!  PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT YOUR CHILD IS ON TRACK WITH THIS PROJECT.  THANKS FOR YOUR SUPPORT.

Enjoy your evening.
