Thursday 5 January 2017

Thursday, January 5, 2017 / C'est jeudi le 5, janvier 2017.

We had a busy day today; here's what we did:

1) We signed up for the Immigration Project presentations.  I have include the list below.

2) Next, we reviewed the Hyperbole package from yesterday; the kids were excited to share their hyperboles.  They were given another two pages of practice (due tomorrow), and assigned the hyperbole portion of the winter-themed snow globe (due Monday).

3) Following that, students worked on completing their 'Ecosystem of the Forest' summaries.  I have started collecting the questions from their package as well as their finished summaries.  All are due Monday.

4) After recess we reviewed decimal place values (They remembered these well!), and worked as a team to order some decimal numbers from least to greatest.  Next, we watch a video about converting between different metric measurements and added notes to our Interactive Notebooks.

We also learned from this video an important saying that will help us with this:
King Henry died by drinking chocolate milk
  k       h         dk   m       d              d         m
                             L
                             g

*Please note that deka (dk) is also referred to as deca (da).  I will research this a little more to determine which is most widely used. **I have found the answer!! Apparently, this guy's teachers are even more confused:(  Here's the screen shot of my search:

5) Mr. Pfeiffer took the students to P.E., today so they were excited to have a break from me:)

6) After lunch, students wrote thank you notes, filled in their agendas, read silently, and worked to complete unfinished art projects.

That's it!
