Here's our day:
We started with a Circle Talk to reflect on how things are going in our classroom. We cleared an area in the middle of the room, sat on the floor, used my Talking Stick, and shared our thoughts. Overall, the students are liking the year so far, especially the colours in the room and the art we are doing. They admit that things get a bit noisy at times, and prefer the more peaceful quiet moments to get work done. While some students are able to work with noise and distractions, they are mindful that others need the quiet and calm. Overall, I was pleased to hear their reflections and their voices that said they would do more to make positive changes in the classroom.
We went to gym where half of us played basketball and the other half played "Everybody's It".
Back at our classroom we started a French package about numbers 1-15. The kids were enjoying working through this package so I let them work on it some more for fifteen minutes after recess. The package will be due Friday!
Next, we did a multiplication facts drill for two minutes. We reviewed the Making Threes package before continuing with the Facts to 81 package. The latter was assigned for tomorrow!
After lunch, Mr. Redding took the kids to Music.
We quickly did Agendas and stacked chairs before heading to Library with Mrs. Tomm to work on Instructive Writing skills.
The Canadian Zen Animals are laminated and up on the board now, as are most of the Grinches:)
