Here's our day:
The Olympics package (a series of short articles about the olympics) is due tomorrow. Several students have submitted them already... ask your child.
While students were working on the above mentioned package, others took turns outlining the geographical regions of Canada onto a large piece of white paper. The image was projected from a map, the same map that the students have in their Working Binder (behind the Social Studies tab). Students were to have coloured the regions on the map, including the key. This colouring piece is to be done for tomorrow.
In math, students were given some data about olympic medals, and are to create a double bar graph showing the medals won by males and females for each of the sports. We discussed the necessary parts of the graph at length. Students also have their math drills double bar graph to refer to. This assignment was also assigned for homework if not completed; several students have submitted theirs already.
We also read through the first two pages of the Appalachian Region package, and highlighted key information, discussing as we did so. A short paragraph / a few sentences was assigned at the bottom of the second page about fisheries.
As you can see, I am working the students hard, minimizing time for distractions and off-task behaviours.
PAC is needing volunteers to help with the Carnival. It is a huge fundraiser for PAC so, if you are able to help out, they are only asking for half an hour of your time!
