Hi folks!  Here's what we did today:

We started to dehydrate some pears today.  Students took turns thinly slicing up pears; a tasty should be ready for tomorrow.

In Language Arts, we read a short article entitled "Catch the Breeze" about wind energy.  Students highlighted key parts, then answered some questions.  We will continue building comprehension, picking out key elements in an article, and answering in complete sentences.

In math, we explored the rules of addition of odd and even numbers: Even + Even = Even;     Odd + Odd = Even;
Even + Odd = Odd

We also played around with money, making change in various denominations.

This afternoon, we had a school-wide assembly to mark  Orange Shirt Day.  We watched a film, explaining Phyllis's story.  Our class performed a short song, then the grade 5/6 class read a story about lifting one another up.  Working with our buddies, students wrote on an orange shirt different ways that they hold one another up.

Students continued to work on their personal coat of arms, inspired by that of Governor-General Julie Payette.
