After reviewing the Unit 5 crossword puzzle together in anticipation of tomorrow's spelling / vocabulary quiz, we tried to spell as many words as we could think of that were spelled the same as various list words. For example, string= sing, ring, sting, bring, bling... you get the idea. Then we moved to the next word.
*The quiz will be tomorrow afternoon!
Then the students had P.E., and recess. Following that, students challenged each other with Number Clues. The point of this game is simply to have students become more aware of how math is all around them. This was a fun warm-up before they were challenged by learning a new subtraction strategy involving adjusting numbers.
This was difficult for most students; we will continue working on this strategy (and others).
Students had a little time to go onto Mathletics right before lunch.
In the afternoon, students continued working on their biomes, putting information onto Book Creator. This will be a big focus for the next few weeks.
We had about fifteen minutes at the end of the day to consider how the students connect with the attributes of Wolf, Raven, and Salmon in relation to their research projects.
