This is a belated post - sorry! Here's what we did on Thrilling Thursday:
Students were introduced to metaphors. We did a worksheet together, then they created some funny ones. I showed a fabulous musical video (twice!) about the difference between similes and metaphors, both being methods of comparison. Check it out here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uoSBVNUO2LU
Some students started to colour their snow globe bases which we will be starting tomorrow.
In Math, students were introduced to the Kim Sutton number line that is up in our classroom. Each number to twelve is represented by its own colour. These coloured dots on the number line show the multiples of that number. Example: 2 is red so you will see a red dot above each even number on the number line.
The dots above each number show all of the factors of that number. For example: 12 has a red (2), dark green (3), orange (4), light blue (6), and black with a star (12). The factors of 12 are: 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 12.
Numbers to 12 that have only one dot are Prime Numbers; numbers with more than one dot are Composite Numbers.
In Science, we reviewed the vocabulary about the brain that we learned earlier in the week. We also colour-coded our worksheet to be the same as the brains that were created using modelling clay.
Students also had a bit of time today to work on past-due assignments from home-learning packages.
