 Greetings, one and all.

We had three students in attendance today, and two more joined us at the scheduled times via Zoom.

Math - see Telling Time package -

During the first session 10:45), students were introduced to the analogue clock, counting by fives for each number on the clock.  We then practiced reading the number of minutes after the hour and before the hour.  Example: 10 (minutes) after 5 (o'clock);  25 (minutes) to 9 (o'clock).  We also referred to the terms "quarter to" and "quarter after".  This is a picture of the clock in our classroom.  Note: it has reminders regarding terms to use.

I showed the kids how to set up Clock Solitaire (description in package) to become more familiar with the hours and their placement on an analogue clock.

During our second Zoom connection (12:20), I continued reading Island of the Blue Dolphins.  Students are really enjoying this and are beginning to appreciate what it must be like for her on the island, and how difficult it is to make all of the things that Katarina does.  We will likely finish this tomorrow.

At our third Zoom connection (1:45), I read EARTHQUAKES and then we did a couple of activities, one identifying tectonic plates and another completing a crossword to strengthen vocabulary.

Throughout the day, the students in attendance completed various reading comprehension assignments from last week, organized their binders, read with me, completed an art reflection, and participated in P.E. activities.

That's it!  Enjoy your evening!
