 Greetings!  

Today we took a slight detour in our learning.  I first read them a story about Anne Frank, told from the perspective of a chestnut tree in the courtyard outside where the Franks were hidden during WWII.  We also watched a short BBC film; this was cut short when the students went to the Big House for Culture Class. 


We also read through a short story about compound words: The Compound Word Wizard. The students are practicing their read aloud strategies, pausing where appropriate and adding expression to their voices. 

Students are making progress on their snow globes.  They don't know it yet, but today's Anne Frank story used personification - our next figurative language focus!  This will tie in  nicely. 

We changed up our math class and, instead of doing our usual Drills That Thrill, the kids played Real Estate!  This game involves rolling die to create arrays, the goal being to own the most real estate.  They had a lot of fun while learning practicing their multiplication.  Here are some results:
